Ada Lovelace Day is over!
It's been amazing 50 hours and we hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have!
Hi there,
Midnight has just arrived on Baker Island and Howland Island, finally bringing Ada Lovelace Day 2024 to a close.
We’ve had an absolutely wonderful day with lots of amazing independent events held around the world and, although many of them are over, there are a handful still to come. See what’s on in your area by checking our map!
Ada Lovelace Day Live catch-up and photos
Ada Lovelace Day Live at the Royal Institution last night was absolutely amazing! The talks were funny and captivating, and we had a fabulous audience ready and waiting to join in with their squeaky ducks. I hesitate to pick out a highlight because it was all brilliant, but I did enjoy Sally’s What The Duck? segment!
Livestream recording available for two weeks
If you bought a livestream ticket but couldn’t watch us live last night, you now have two weeks to watch it on demand, so check your email for the link. For anyone who didn’t buy a ticket, the videos will be put up on the Royal Institution’s YouTube channel in due course.
Take a look at our photos
If you’d like to see more photos from the event, then our fabulous photographer, Paul Clarke, has made them available online already. Do take a look!
(And if you find yourself in one of those photos and don’t wish to be, please let me know and I’ll get it taken down for you.)
Dr Sarah Bearchell on BBC Radio 5
You can also listen to Dr Sarah Bearchell talking about her Cloud Factory demo and Ada Lovelace Day on BBC Radio 5 Live yesterday morning. The interview starts at about 2 hours 42 minutes into the recording and it’s available for the next 29 days.
(And if you’re curious about why ALD is always the second Tuesday in October, Rick Edwards is right – it’s just a good time to get as many people as possible to take part!)
Our collection of tweets, posts and videos
We had lots of activity online throughout the day yesterday, so if you’d like to see what others were doing, take a look at our Wakelet for the day with a selection of tweets, posts, and videos, plus our Wakelet for Ada Lovelace Day Live.
